Welcome to our school!

On behalf of our entire school community,we welcome you to Olson Elementary. Our school was named after Paul J. Olson, who was an educator and environmentalist in Madison. Our current enrollment is approximately 501 students in grades K4-5th grade. This school opened its doors for the first time in August 2008 and is the newest elementary school in Madison.  Our school sparkles not only because it is newly built but because all the efforts of those whose goal has been to make the first green school in Madison. Our staff works hard to engage students in meaningful ways in order to excel academically. In addition, students and staff work together to foster a respectful, responsible and safe learning environment. As we enter into our second year, we will continue to create our own cultures and traditions. We would like to extend an open invitation for you to participate in your child's education. Please keep in touch with your child's teacher, provide praise and support for your child, participate in conferences, call when you have questions, and join us for special activities and events. There is no substitute for a combined home-school partnership in providing your child with the best educational experience possible.

I hope that this website will be helpful to you. It will provide you with information relative to the Madison Metropolitan School District, as well and specifically about our school's policies and procedures. Please remember you are always welcome to be involved in your child's school experience at Olson. We look forward to working with each of you this upcoming school year!

Sincerely,

Pam Emmerich
